I am using your Make Transparent option, but it does not display 100% transparent.
If parts of your transparent splash screen still show, or the edges look "spotty," the background is not exactly one color.
The Transparency option picks the single most common color in your BMP and makes every pixel of that exact color see-through. A pixel that is even slightly different stays visible. Smooth (anti-aliased) edges and photos saved as JPEG are the usual cause, because they contain many shades close to the background color.
Make a clean transparent image
- Open your image in an image editor (Paint, Paint.NET, GIMP or Photoshop).
- Fill everything you want transparent with one solid color that does not appear anywhere in your logo. Bright magenta (red 255, green 0, blue 255) is the traditional choice.
- Check the edges of your logo. Turn off anti-aliasing, or clean up the soft edge pixels so they are either the logo color or the exact background color.
- Save as a 24-bit BMP. Do not save as JPEG first: JPEG compression changes the background into many slightly different colors.
- Select the BMP in AutoRun Wizard and check the Transparency option.
Transparency works only with BMP splash screens, and not together with the Animation or Fill Entire Screen options. GIF and PNG files are not supported as splash screens. See Can I create transparent splash screens?
