How can I autorun a Shockwave Flash (swf) file?
Adobe ended Flash Player on December 31, 2020, and every current browser has removed it. Shockwave was discontinued in 2019. A .swf file on your disc will no longer play on a modern PC, whichever autorun product you use.
To bring an old Flash disc up to date, replace the Flash content with something every PC can open:
| If your Flash file was | Replace it with |
|---|---|
| An intro or animation | An MP4 video. Record it with a screen recorder while it plays on an old PC, or rebuild it in a video tool. Then autorun the MP4. |
| A menu | An HTML page with images and CSS. See adding a menu. |
| A slideshow or brochure | A PDF. See autorunning a PDF. |
| An interactive game or tool | An HTML5 version. Some Flash authoring tools (Adobe Animate) export HTML5 Canvas directly. |
For a quick branded intro without any video, AutoRun Wizard's own animated splash screen (over 150 animation styles) plus a sound file gives a similar effect with no extra software.
Try it yourself. AutoRun Studio is free to download and fully functional - see how it handles this on your own USB drive or CD.
